Though researches on Daniel Defoe have been quite mature and fruitful, yet it still has lots of topics to explore. The Life and Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe revealed the construction and spirit of the Utopian society, which also shown the conflict between the destructive environment and vehement subjective reactions.

As a representative of emerging power, Defoe agreed the capitalist spirits of self-strengthen and aggressiveness. As for the foundation of the Utopian society, Defoe noticed to express that times#8217; social live hood and people#8217;s perceptibility towards live and world. That gives me motivation for choosing this as this essay#8217;s topic.

In addition, the novel itself attracts readers attention brilliantly for its perspectives of the Utopian study, which is a profound issue, to make a multianalysis on the ideas about nature reflected in the Robinson Crusoe and the treasures that the Robinson Crusoe brings to the readers in dealing with the relation between human and nature. The research of this theme itself is not boring but profound and practical. I believe, these ideas are still going to be of magnificent importance.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

The whole essay concentrates on the detection of the author#8217;s view on the Utopian society. The difficulties lies in that the twisting connection between the general reality and an ideal world, thus readers of this article can appreciate the quintessence of the original novel from another new angle.

This essay consists of five parts. First of all, the Introduction is about literature review and current studies of Daniel Defoe#8217;s novel---- The Life and Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. Chapter one keeps an eye on the relationship of human. The relationship includes Robinson Crusoe, the man-eaters, Friday and other intruders. Chapter two analyzes the management of the Utopian society in this novel. Robinson Crusoe made a living condition, and this essay will study on the politics, economy and culture. Chapter three analyzes the possibility of an ideal world and the realistic dilemma. Last but not the least, the Conclusion will give a summary to the whole essay.

On the one hand, domestic commentator field started new discussion instead of traditional standpoints, and which gained remarkable effects. Domestic researcher Jian Changwei, he wrote The Life and Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe with Patriarchal Empire. This book is representative of the post-colonialism view in domestic studies. The author considered Defoe made an uninhabited island as a patriarchal empire.

On the other hand, the most important literatures were Plato#8217;s Utopia and St. Thomas More#8217;s Utopia, which emphasized sense and the life conforming to nature. The life conforming to nature was a simple and wise life. With the impact of great mass literary research in middle 1900s, foreign literature workers studied Robinson Crusoe in utopian thought. In addition, there were some robinsonade like The Coral Island by R.M.Ballantyne , Treasure Island by R.L.Stevenson, Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
